Our second collaboration with Sandra and Elena from babus has been a joyful continuation of shared ideas and trust. For this project, I translated some of the gestures of transparency and illumination that shaped babus Löwenstrasse into a new architectural context — this time one that’s distinctly angular and contemporary. The result balances clarity and warmth, mirroring the clients’ vision for something both practical and uplifting.
A favourite behind-the-scenes moment came when Toby from Eigenweld, who was pouring the resin, sent me photos of the samples beside a stick of butter to see if the colour match was just right — a small detail that summed up the project’s mix of craft and playfulness. Working with Sandra and Elena is always a pleasure, and this space reflects that sense of ease and collaboration.

With a conservative budget, the Nido Restaurant project maximized impact by reusing many existing elements and thoughtfully adjusting them to craft a completely refreshed environment.
This design reflects the team's innovative concept and highlights the exceptional quality of the Peruvian cuisine, blending global influences with natural flavors from Chef Kiko Zeballos. Ernst Wieland's Enrico Wieland and team worked tirelessly alongside Linda Borer and her dedicated colleagues to bring this vision to life, creating a warm, nest-like ambiance with subtle textures, wood surfaces, bronze accents, and an inviting bar-centered layout.
The hardworking and enjoyable collaboration ensured a serene space that complements the restaurant's sensory journey.

Residential, 2025
This 220 m² residence unfolds gradually from a narrow foyer into a generous kitchen and dining space, culminating in a double-height lounge framed by the garden. Developed in close collaboration with Antoine, the design reflects his refined sensibility and love of mid-century modern architecture. The brief called for a home that balances intimacy with generosity—a place as inviting as a boutique hotel yet deeply personal. Working with Antoine was an absolute pleasure, his thoughtful eye and genuine enthusiasm made every stage of the process deeply rewarding.
Material transitions guide the experience, weaving between tactile richness and subtle restraint. Each level reveals a new layer of character: guest and study spaces near the entry, a private library and master suite above, and wellness and media rooms below. Rooted in context and emotion, the design celebrates timeless texture, memory, and the quiet pleasure of returning home.

Babu’s legacy in Zurich has been one of great brunch, friendly service and a homely interior made up of collected pieces. A come one, come all policy has meant that the locale has remained successful and relevant over a long period of time.
The concept of the interior was an amalgamation of these foundations as well as the context of the new location on the street level of the NZZ Headquarters.
NZZ moved from their beginnings on Schillerstrasse to Theaterstrasse in 1948 after having architect A.C. Müller renovate the corner house originally built in in 1894. The architect A.C. Müller divorced with the historicism and and Heimatstil commonly maintained in that area and opted for a clean Bauhaus style. His aim was to make the newspaper production a transparent and public spectacle: tall windows provided a view of the technical heart - the rotary presses.
The architectural epoch of this renovation in combination with the industrial aesthetic was a huge gust of wind pushing the aesthetic cues of the new Babu’s on Theaterstrasse. The whisper back to the materials and forms one might have seen in this era, with a contemporary shout pulling the interior concept into a timeless position amongst some of Zurich’s favourite gastronomic landscapes.
The concrete composite floors, the glas blocks and the industrial interpretation of the Babu’s colours combine these aesthetic prompts and are further strengthened by a collection of vintage furniture from that time period.
